Who we are
Annamaya Movement centers on the annamaya kosha—the physical or “food” body in Sanskrit. While our work honors the mental and energetic layers of being, our primary focus is restoring and expanding physical movement. We design practices that meet each person where they are, building functional strength, mobility, and confidence through thoughtful, adaptable movement.
Founder: Mitchell Benoit
Mitchell Benoit is the creator of Annamaya Movement. He brings a rare combination of qualifications and lived experience: Highly Experienced Yoga Teacher, Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Personal Trainer, and freestyle snowboard coach. These complementary skills allow him to assess bodies precisely, create progressive plans, and provide hands-on guidance that speeds recovery and deepens body awareness.
Who Mitchell works with
People recovering movement after injury or surgery, including joint replacements
Individuals with lifelong structural imbalances such as clubfoot and Scoliosis
Those living with neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease, ALS, and MS
Anyone seeking to move better—whether from a chair or toward advanced goals like handstands
What sets Mitchell apart
Specialization in regaining lost movement: Mitchell excels at diagnosing the specific limitations that reduce function and crafting individualized movement options that restore capacity safely.
Adaptable progressions: Every exercise is scaled for the body in front of him, with multiple entry points and modifications so participants can practice successfully and progress consistently.
Integration of modalities: His background in manual therapy, strength training, and yoga means movement plans address tissue mechanics, motor control, and breath-based regulation.
Compassion shaped by experience: In 2024, Mitchell lost his father to ALS. Watching his father’s progressive loss of movement deepened Mitchell’s commitment to preserving and restoring mobility. That personal loss fuels his mission: to help as many people as possible move with freedom and dignity.
